How to Read a Mushroom Label

Species names, plant parts, serving sizes, extraction ratios, and claims worth questioning.

The short answer

Read the species, form, amount, preparation directions, and responsible business. The most prominent word on the front rarely provides enough detail for a useful comparison.

Identify the material

Look for a scientific name and whether the ingredient is fresh, dried, powdered, extracted, or blended. Read carriers and flavorings as well. A product named after one mushroom can include several species; the name does not establish the amount of its headline ingredient.

Separate the numbers

Net package weight, serving amount, and extract ratio describe different things. A 10:1 statement does not prove ten times the clinical benefit. A measured percentage needs units, context, and a relevant report rather than an isolated badge on a product image.

Ask concrete questions

Which batch is it? Is there a specification? What is the storage guidance? Who handles a quality concern? These are intended launch requirements at Liona, not documents we pretend already exist for an unfinished formula. Clear answers should be available before a purchase decision.
